When we think about bringing ideas to life we mostly think about entrepreneurs, innovators, designers, technology, Silicon Valley, all those creative people that build successful businesses around new products and services that we have come to admire so much. But there is another field that its sole purpose is to materialize ideas, task with making other people’s vision come true: Construction. As construction workers we are part of something more noble than shoveling dirt, laying bricks, framing, or whatever our trade maybe, we are part of something bigger, we work together to bring ideas and visions to life. Let’s think about it, entrepreneurs need offices, warehouses, buildings, and infrastructure to deliver their goods and services, and construction worker build that infrastructure that make their business possible. Entrepreneurs create jobs, and those workers need homes where to raise their families, schools for their kids, hospitals, theaters, church where to worship, roads, parks, museums, etc. and again construction workers build all of that to make it possible. Construction workers have been trusted with one of the most important aspects of our society, building the communities where we live, develop, thrive, and pursue happiness. We, as construction workers, are no in the business of putting together materials to form buildings or roads, are in the business of making things happen, of materializing ideas.

In the construction industry we bring talented people together, from architects, engineers, and managers, to skill trade workers, people in manufacturing and logistics, professionals in real estate, accounting, financing, and law, all working towards the same goal, bring ideas to life. We represent one of the ultimate inclusive industries in the planet, we bring people from different backgrounds, people speaking different languages, different culture, races, religions, and countries, to make things happen. We bring materials from all over the country and the world, transport and deliver that material with efficiency, organize skilled people to do their part in almost perfect sequence, it’s like a big amazing global orchestra. It’s just short of magic, what starts as an idea in someone’s brain, its transformed through talent and hard work, and bring to life to improve our communities. The difference is that we don’t use wand, we use computers, tools, and equipment, we work as hard as it necessary through spring, summer, fall or winter, until the job is done.

Everyone in the construction industry should be proud of what they are doing, of what they are part, of what they are achieving through collaboration and hard work. If you are a framer specialized in residential work, you are not just framing another house like if was a production line, no! you are framing a home for a family where they will probably raise their children and will become a family asset for future generations. If you are a plumber for commercial building, you are no just laying pipes and installing fixtures, you are building a new business that will bring wellbeing to the community around, creating jobs, good and services. We are much more than the task we perform; we are part of something much bigger, we are a team, we work together to bring ideas to life.
